Transmission Rites and Customary Authority

Forms of transmission, speech of authority and customary mediation occupy a central place in the continuity of the Antemoro territory.

Transmission Rites and Customary Authority

Continuity carried by people

Antemoro heritage does not rest only on written traces. It also lives through rites, formal speech, practices of counsel and forms of recognition that organise the relationship between memory, responsibility and community.

These customary mediations contribute to the symbolic stability of the territory and to the transmission of essential reference points.

Main functions

  • preserve continuity between generations;
  • frame the gestures of transmission;
  • recognise the legitimacy of responsibilities exercised over time.

Contemporary challenge

Documenting and presenting these practices requires delicate attention. The aim is to make them intelligible without distorting them, and to give them a proper place in the institutional narrative of the territory.
